Accused abducts complainant, his son forcing them to withdraw case

Kaluwanchikudi police launched an investigation into the abduction of a witness and his 21-year-old son by an accused to withdraw the complaint related to a case pending at Kalwanchikudi Court regarding abducting a woman.

Police said that the information about the abduction of the woman was revealed when the case was taken up for hearing and evidence was being obtained in the Court on February 27.

The victims were first abducted on April 2022.

K. Jeyaraja, a resident of Kaluwanchikudi Hospital Road, and his daughter, Lakshika were abducted then.

Police said that Lakshika’s husband is the owner of a pharmacy. They also said that this woman is living separately from her husband and a divorce case is pending in Court.

Police also said that the owner of the pharmacy and another person kidnapped Jeyaraj and Lakshika in April 2022. Both of them were abducted and taken away in a three-wheeler.

Investigating a complaint in this regard, the suspects were arrested and produced in court for the case proceedings on February 27. The plaintiff, K. Jeyaraj, while testifying before Court, said that on June 11, 2022, he and his 21-year-old son were abducted. He said that they were abducted and taken away in a car by the defendant and a group of people who were pressuring him to withdraw the complaint related to this case. He also told Court that although he was released after a day; his son was released only after a few days. He said that he did not file a complaint with police for fear.

Then, the Magistrate had halted obtaining evidence and had advised them to immediately go to Police and lodge a complaint. Police were ordered to conduct an investigation and report the facts to Court.

Accordingly, Police registered the complaint on February 27 and commenced investigations.
