Amber sets Olympic record in skeet shooting

Amber English scooped her first Olympic Gold Medal after winning the skeet shooting Women’s final at the Asaka Shooting Range in Tokyo yesterday.

The skeet shooter showcased nerves of steel as she eclipsed her opponents after earning 56 points in the finals – a new Olympic Games record. English, who has four World Cup medals under her name from 2010, 2016, 2018, 2019, is only the second American to win the Women’s skeet shooting event. The 31-year-old comes from a family of competitive shooters.

Rio 2016 Gold Medallist Diana Bacosi from Italy succumbed to second place with just one point behind English whilst Meng Wei of China claimed Bronze with a total of 46 hits.

“It’s difficult to win a title, much more difficult to win a second title. But I’m very happy with this Silver Medal. I’m so proud and want to dedicate this medal to all Italian people,” Bacosi said after the event.
