5,000 needy students get school stationery to mark New Year

Textbooks and educational equipment were provided to 5,000 schoolchildren and packs of dry rations were donated to needy families during the annual social welfare programme organised by the Jayakira Company in Delgoday and its founder Chandrasiri Withanage on Januray 1 at the company premises. Also, 50 pregnant women were given baby care items and 600 elderly people were given dry ration parcels in addition to a financial donation.

Food and beverages were also provided to all participants.

The occasion was further enlivened by a concert and musical show where a number of famous artistes also performed at the event. Biyagama Sashanarakshaka Bala Mandala Chairman Ven. Aludeniye Sumanarathana Thera, Ven. Heenpelle Anurasiri Thera, Gampaha MP Asoka Sapumal Ranwala, Board of Directors of the institution Vimukthi Withanage, Harshika Madhushani and Hasitha Jayawardene also participated in this event.
