A/Ls from November 25 to December 20

Examination Commissioner General Amith Jayasundara stressed that the Advanced Level Examination 2024 will not be postponed for any reason.

The Advanced Level Examination will be held for 22 days from November 25 to December 20.

The Commissioner further stressed that the candidates should prepare for the examination held on the scheduled dates without being deceived by social media or other forms of information since the examination time table which has been officially notified by the Examinations Department earlier has not been changed.

He said so while participating in the media conference held at the Sri Lanka Examinations Department yesterday (30).

Advanced Level Examination time table can be downloaded from the official website of Examinations Department “exams@doenets.lk”. He noted that the dates for the A/L examination were decided last March and the children have got more than enough time to prepare for the examination.

According to him 361 school days were given to the A/L examination candidates to prepare for the examination. However, 600 periods are enough to cover one subject, but this year the examination candidates got 722 periods each for the preparation of the examination.

“There is a lot of negative publicity about the A/L examination through social media and accordingly there is uncertainty among the children about the dates of the examination,” he added.

The Examinations Commissioner General requested candidates to always act only on official announcements made by the Examination Department and not to be deceived by false and baseless information made on social media.

He added that he is receiving requests to postpone the examination and the date of the A/L examination from certain parties but the dates were decided focusing on the total subject coverage time. He added that due to various crises faced by the country during the past, examinations had to be held irregularly, but at the beginning of 2026, examinations will be held on schedule.
