Sri Jayawardhanapura University’s History and Archaeological Studies Department Head Ven. Dambara Amila Thera yesterday said that the people will experience the same type of governance as Taliban in Afghanistan, after National People’s Power comes into power.
The Thera was of the view that the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) which appears as NPP is fed by communist ideas and the people will have experience the same type of governance as the Taliban in Afghanistan, if they come into power.
He said that religion in a communist state is called ‘opium’ and accordingly no religion can exist in the country under JVP rule.
Ven.Amila Thera was speaking to the media yesterday after meeting the Mahanayake thera of Malwatte Chapter in Kandy yesterday.
Commenting further he said: We can realise who the correct ruler of the country should be, at this time through policy statements presented by the presidential candidates. Independent

as the Bhikkhu Advisory Council including programmes to be carried out in the future. A copy of the book was presented to the Mahanayake Thera.
Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna is a group with socialist views. They cannot have any religion, anyhow. Now it can be covered up with the compass. There can be no religion in a communist
state. If there are religions, it is a contradiction. If the JVP comes to power in this country, a secular state will be created. Not only that Freedom of speech will also be lost. In China, five
people cannot talk together. Women in North Korea cannot wear lipstick. We should not forget that these are communist states.When you say that there is no regard for religion, then all religions will definitely be harmed.
The Dalada Perahera is done with the support of the state. All of them will be lost under communist rule. Attorney Upul Kumarapperuma, Jathika Janabalavegaya, said that private
schools and freedom of religion will all be protected under their control.He said that the JVP is only a small part of the National People’s Power and that they have prepared the manifesto. They are the ones who represent the liberal side of the compass. However, Tilvin Silva has said that the policies of the JVP are the compass.
