AC Milan has announced the launch of the Milan Junior Camp project in Sri Lanka

AC Milan has announced the launch of the Milan Junior Camp project in Sri Lanka, which will take place in Colombo, Galle, and Jaffna early next year.

This pioneering initiative, the first of its kind in Sri Lanka, has been made possible through a collaboration with the Academy of Colombo Athletic and Football Club. It marks another significant milestone in the global expansion of the Milan Junior Camp project, following a summer that witnessed its rollout in 23 cities across North America and Europe.

The advancement of sports plays a vital role in societal progress by improving both physical and mental well-being. This program, designed for young athletes—boys and girls aged 5 to 17—will officially begin on January 21, 2025. It will commence with a workshop for local coaches and key stakeholders, who will receive specialized and tailored technical training with the support of AC Milan’s professional expertise.

Through a comprehensive approach rooted in the AC Milan Method, participants of the Milan Junior Camp will benefit from the guidance of certified Rossoneri coaches. The program aims to enhance the technical skills of the young athletes while fostering their overall physical and mental development.

Franco Baresi, AC Milan’s Honorary Vice President, shared: “This initiative, born from the collaboration between AC Milan and Colombo Athletic & Football Club, encourages a love for football and introduces the AC Milan Method to new regions. We take great pride in creating opportunities for young, aspiring male and female footballers worldwide. With the arrival of the Milan Junior Camp in Sri Lanka, we hope to continue spreading the Rossoneri values on a global scale.”

Ajai Vir Singh, President of Colombo Athletic and Football Club, commented: “This marks the beginning of a new chapter in football and sports education in Sri Lanka. AC Milan brings their 125-year heritage and successful holistic training structure to inspire and develop our next generation. This program will enable boys and girls aged 5 to 17 to unlock their full potential. A systematic approach to sports is being introduced here, covering areas such as nutrition, mental health, strength training, and more.”

Colombo Athletic and Football Club was established with the primary goal of introducing a scientific and structured approach to sports for Sri Lanka’s younger generation. Its focus extends beyond football, emphasizing the holistic development of both mind and body. The club was brought to life through the passion and vision of Ajai Vir Singh, Fouzul Hameed, and Trevor Reckerman.

H.E. Damiano Francovigh, Ambassador of Italy to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, expressed his enthusiasm: *“We are thrilled to witness AC Milan, one of Italy’s most iconic and accomplished football clubs, bringing Junior Camps to Sri Lanka. We are confident that this initiative will provide a valuable platform for local youth to enhance their football skills while strengthening the bonds of friendship and collaboration between Italy and Sri Lanka.”*
