Adverse weather postpones UNP convention

Due to the present adverse weather in the country, the United National Party’s (UNP)   convention scheduled to be held on September 10 in Colombo will be postponed until October, party General Secretary Palitha Range Bandara said. He mentioned this while speaking at the press conference held yesterday (4) at Sirikotha, the party headquarters.

He also said that the management committee of the party will meet today (5) and reach a decision on the fresh date of the convention.

Range Bandara also mentioned that the 77th anniversary of the UNP falls on September 6 and religious ceremonies are planned to be held at the Sirikotha with the participation of all the party’s key officials.

Addressing the press conference, Range Bandara also said: “All the organizational activities to hold the party conference on September 10 had been completed, but due to the bad weather in the country, it was decided to postpone it as it would inconvenience the public coming for it.”
