The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber‑level advisory warning of heavy rain in the Sabaragamuwa Province and the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts.
The alert, released at 11:30 am today (03), remains valid until 11:30 am tomorrow (04).
According to the Met Department, the active Southwest monsoon will continue to bring rainy and windy conditions over the southwestern parts of the island during the next 24 hours, with rainfall exceeding 100 mm expected in some areas.
According to rainfall records from 8:30 am yesterday to 8:30 am today, Nuwara Eliya district reported the highest totals:
- Canyon — 191 mm
- Lakshapana — 187 mm
- Norton — 186 mm
- Castlereigh — 159 mm
- Kotmale — 133.2 mm
- Dikoya — 127 mm
