Showers are expected in some districts, while mainly fair weather will prevail over most parts of Sri Lanka today, according to the Department of Meteorology.
A few showers may occur in the Uva province and in the Ampara, Batticaloa, Matale and Nuwara Eliya districts.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Sabaragamuwa province, and in the Galle, Matara and Kaluthara districts after 2.00 p.m.
Fairly heavy falls above 50 mm are likely at some places.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Kaluthara to Hambantota via Galle in the evening or night.
Winds will be north-easterly, and wind speed will be 30-40 kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 45-50 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Mannar via Puttalam and from Hambantota to Pottuvil.
