Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, North-western and Southern provinces and in the Anuradhapura and Mannar districts after 1.00 pm today (06).
According to the Department of Meteorology, fairly heavy falls above 75 mm are likely at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Southern provinces.
The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces in the morning.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Matara via, Puttalam, Colombo and Galle during the evening or night.
Winds will be South-westerly. Wind speed will be 20-30 kmph. Sea areas around the island will be slight.
Temporarily strong gusty winds 60-70 kmph and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers. (Newswire)
