All the nine inmates who escaped from a correctional centre for young offenders at Thaldena in Badulla have been arrested. Two of the escapees were arrested by the prison officials and four others by the Meegahakiula Police on Monday (17).
Prison officers conducted a search operation in the forest reserve around the camp and found the remaining escaped convicts yesterday morning (18). Prisons Media Spokesperson, Additional Prison Commissioner General Chandana Ekanayake said the nine youth escaped from this correctional centre early Monday (17). Ekanayake further stated that the convicts were at the centre in connection with drug charges.
