Anjalika cruises to Women’s Singles final

Anjalika Kurera continued her outstanding form by reaching the Women’s Singles final of the 106th National Tennis Championships played at the SLTA Courts in Green Path yesterday.

The schoolgirl from Ave Maria Convent, Negombo, rallied around magnificently and went on to beat Neyara Weerawansa in straight sets 6-2, 6-0.

In the other Women’s Singles semi-final, Janali Manamperi of MAS Holdings beat Hasali Gajaba (2-6, 6-0, 3-0), who was forced to retire in the third set.

Meanwhile, in the Men’s Singles semi-finals, Yasitha de Silva beat Luca Knese 7-5, 6-2 and Chathurya Nilaweera beat Thehan Wijemanne 7-6(4), 6-4.

Both finals will be played on Sunday commencing at 3.00 p.m. (D.R.)
