Anti-Dengue programme by PMASL, FAOPMA in collaboration with CMC

The Pest Managers Association of Sri Lanka (PMASL) and the Federation of Asia Oceania Pest Management Associations (FAOPMA) carried out a dengue control programme in collaboration with the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) and the National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU).

The event was launched at the ‘Millennium Training Centre’ with the patronage of Dr. Ruwan Wijayamuni, Chief Medical Officer of Health, Colombo Municipal Council and Dr. Sudath Samaraweera, Director National Dengue Control Unit, Ministry of Health and industry leaders of the PMASL.

The programme was carried in the identified high risk areas of Colombo Municipal Council with the active participation of PMASL member companies.

CMC Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ruwan Wijayamuni, commended the completion of the programme was a success, with the able guidance of his team. “Having a very high population density in the CMC area has consistently reported higher dengue case and seasonal outbreaks. Therefore, rapid response is a critical factor in mitigating populations,” Director, NDCU, Dr. Sudath Samaraweera stated.

“One of FAOPMA’s core purposes is to support our members in a time of crisis. As such, FAOPMA were able to raise funds immediately from our country members and other member associations and individuals,” Suchart Lee, President FAOPMA said.

PMASL President Sudash Liyanage stated that, the Pest Managers Association of Sri Lanka (PMASL) is pleased to have launched a timely CSR Project to combat the dengue pandemic, with the initiation, support and benevolent sponsorship of Federation of Asia Oceania Pest Managers Association (FAOPMA).
