Army Commander Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, arrived at the Entry/ Exit points along the E-1 Southern Expressway after visiting the Makumbura entrance at Kottawa.
31 officers were deployed along this Expressway at the request of the government after the Road Development Authority (RDA) personnel went on a token strike on Wednesday (22 November).
Troops while providing security to the locations manned those ticketing counters with issue of tickets for motorists entering and exiting through those 22 Expressway Entrance/ Exit points along the E-1 Southern Expressway from Kottawa to Magampura.
Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army spoke to the troops at Makumbura interchange and exchanged views with them on their new emergency services.
The Army Chief was accompanied by Major General W.H.K.S Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndu, Commander, Security Forces – West and several Senior Officers.
