The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of the Thalangama Police has started a comprehensive investigation regarding the theft of 300 bundles of photocopy papers from the Western Provincial Agriculture Ministry.
Police said that 300 bundles containing 500 papers each have been stolen.
These days, the price of a bundle of 500 photocopy papers is between Rs.3500 and Rs. 4000 and accordingly, the value of the paper stolen is estimated to be around Rs. 1.2 million. The Western Province Ministry of Agriculture office is located in the Western Province Chief Ministry Building Complex in Battaramulla. The accountant of the Ministry had complained to the Police about the theft. The theft was discovered during an Internal Audit carried out recently.
