Asitha’s ton put Sri Lanka in command

Asitha Wanninayake stroked a fine knock of 132 in 315 ball with 19 fours as Sri Lanka under-19 made a bold reply of 407 all out in their first innings in their first four day game against England under-19 played at Chelmsford, England yesterday. At the third days play of the game Sri Lanka made a 407 all out to reply to England’s first innings total of 387 all out.

Wanninayake of St Anthony’s Katrugastota who scored an unbeaten century at the first three day practice game once again came to the front with a remarkable knock which lasted 426 minutes while skipper Raveen de Silva scored 62 in 135 balls with 7 fours and Ranuda Somaratne 65 in 114 balls with 6 fours added useful knocks to build up the total on the third day’s play. The off spinner Bertie Foreman was the most successful bowler taking 4 for 94. Today is the fourth and final day of the game.
