Attorney-at-Law Nuwan Bopage who was named as a suspect for illegally entering the President’s Office surrendered before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court yesterday (17) through an Attorney. Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage ordered the release of the suspects on a personal bail of Rs. 500,000.
The Magistrate also ordered him to appear before the Colombo Central Crimes Division on November 19 and provide a statement.
He was named as the 59th suspect in the case filed for illegally entering the President’s Office on the 9th of June.The Police requested the Magistrate to impose a travel ban on him. However the Magistrate denied the request subsequent to the submissions made by the President’s Counsel Saliya Piries.
The Magistrate observed that the Attorney-at-law Nuwan Bopage has not been arrested by the Police.
The Magistrate instructed the police not to seek orders that would inconvenience people.
