Opener Ashiqur Rahman Sibli’s outstanding knock of 129 in 149 balls (12 fours and a six) led Bangladesh to a convincing 195-run win over UAE, securing the Under-19 Asia Cup at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium yesterday.
Bangladesh dominated across all three departments, posting a challenging total of 282/8 in 50 overs, with contributions from Chowdhur Md Rizwan (60 in 71 balls) and Ariful Islam (50 in 40 balls).
In response, UAE struggled, reaching only 87 all out in just 24.5 overs. Bangladesh bowlers, including Maruf Mridha and Rohanat Doullah Borson, played key roles with three wickets each, while Iqbal Hossain Emon and Sheikh Paevez Jibon also shared two wickets each.
Ashiqur Rahman Sibli was named the Man of the Final.
Earlier in the semi-finals, UAE caused an upset by defeating Pakistan, while Bangladesh overcame India to secure a spot in the final. UAE’s remarkable journey included defeating Sri Lanka to reach the final for the first time in the Asia Cup series.
