The consortium comprising Nishantha Ranasinghe and Mathan Raj Mahalingam, has pumped in around Rs. 50 million to upgrade the venue to meet modern day food enthusiast needs. The trio opined that they have added new local furniture along with new interior to make it a more eye-catching ambience. They said that they have been looking at investing in Sri Lanka but the political climate was not encouraging. “We wanted to invest in several projects of this nature before. But found it very difficult to move forward due to several uncalled for issues.”
“However with the change of government and political stability being established we see a positive mindset change in the investment climate which made us firstly acquire this property. Now are looking to expand this BBQ Station business regionally mainly targeting popular tourism areas. We are now looking at opening two more BBQ stations in the South and hill country this year.”
He said that diaspora investors should take a leaf from them and invest in Sri Lanka as this is the best time to invest their ‘extra’ money here. Today BBQ Station at Kirula Road offers dining for nearly 100 guests and also has two private rooms and a special garden area as well. The venue was earlier serving dinner and now we have opened the BBQ Station for lunch dining as well.
“In addition we will soon also introduce ‘office lunch’ and ‘take away’ packs as well.”
During the weekend special DJ and live music is being played to keep the guests entertained. (SS)
