Chamath who hails from Kadawatha was born on January 9 2004 and admitted to St.Benedicts College Kotahena in 2009. former Bens Ruggerite KelumPriyankara and Surangi Sakunthala noticing that his son’s forte is cricket admitted him to the College Cricket Academy and he came under Vivien Savarimuttupulle in 2011. In 2014 he was selected to the under 13 division two team under Joe Saverimuthupulle and passed the 200 run mark with a fifty and in his second year in the division one he scored 250 runs and in 2016 captaining the team he passed the 250 run mark with a half century.
His first year in the under 15 was in 2018 and there too he passed the 300 run mark with two fifties and grabbed 15 wickets and in his final year captaining the team he got 300 plus runs with a fifty and claimed 25 scalps and got selected to the Colombo North and played in the Prima Cup and in 2020 he was selected for the 50 member development squad.
His first year in the first eleven was in 2019 and in 2020 playing in five matches got 100 runs and took ten wickets in five Limited Over matches and in 2021 playing in Six one Dayers passed the 120 run mark and captured ten wickets and played in eight two day matches and passed the 300 run mark with a fifty and claimed 30 wickets. This season so far playing in eight Limited Over matches he has passed the 120 run mark and took ten wickets and reached up to Quarter Finals and last year played for the Colombo North team. They will play their Big Match against their arch rivals Wesley College in February 2023.
In 2013 he commenced athletics at the school inter house sports meet and did field events and won places and in 2014 he did Javelin, putt shot and discus throw and became the school under 12 champion and at the Zonal Education meet as an under 16 competitor he came second in discus throw and putt shot and third in Javelin and taking part in the Junior John Tarbet meet in his three events came within 10th place and in the school meet as an under 17 competitor he won all his three events.
