No NPP Minister asked for official residences

Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Co-operative Development Wasantha Samarasinghe said that a Bill to abolish the pension of all members of Parliament will be presented soon.
“Salary is something that MPs are entitled to, but the pension will definitely be abolished,” he added.
The Minister disclosed this while inaugurating the East Anuradhapura People’s Co-ordination office of National People’s Power.
The minister said neither the President nor the Prime Minister would use any government residence.
He said former ministers have handed over houses. He said none of the NPP ministers have asked for official residences. The Minister further said that Members of Parliament will given a house in the Madiwela MPs housing complex to stay during parliamentary sessions. Samarasinghe said as a minister he is entitled for three V8 vehicles, but he will not accept such luxuries. While speaking to the media in Anuradhapura during the event, he said that there should be a culture of doing business in this country without exploiting the customers and the NPP government will bring in measures to ensure it.
