Biodiversity Sri Lanka (BSL) held its 9th Annual General Meeting (AGM) and CEO Forum at the Galle Face Hotel on September 18, with a theme that resonated with the future of business, Redefining Global Business, Pioneering Sustainability for a Greener Tomorrow.
The event brought together leaders from Sri Lanka’s private sector to explore the growing importance of biodiversity in corporate sustainability.
The AGM commenced with a video showcasing BSL’s initiatives during the past reporting period. Dilhan C. Fernando, Chairman of BSL, then led the AGM, outlining the significant accomplishments of the past year, including the expansion of BSL’s membership base and its pioneering efforts in biodiversity conservation.
The outgoing members of the Board of Directors includes Hasrath Munasinghe DGM, Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC, Lasitha Wimalaratne Chief Executive Officer/HNB Assurance PLC, Sayuri Daluwatte, Former Group Chief COO, Jinasena Pvt Ltd, as well as and Dr. Shamen Vidanage, Country Representative IUCN Sri Lanka who has been serving on the Board of Directors representing initiating partner of BSL the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
Prominent leaders from the private sector, including Siddarth Hirdaramani Director, Hirdaramani Group, Dr. Lalith Weragoda CHRO, Sampath Bank, Dmitri Cooray Managing Director, Jetwing Hotels, Anosha Koralage Snr. Ast. Vice President, John Keells Holdings were appointed to the Board of Directors representing the Patron and General members of the Platform while Prof. Sandun Perera Programme Coordinator, IUCN replaced Dr Vidanage representing IUCN for the 2024/25 session.
The other distinguished members of the Board of Directors include Dilhan C. Fernando Chairman, Dilmah Ceylon Tea Company PLC, Manori Dissanayake Senior Assistant Secretary General, Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, as well as Ex-officio Director Ranjith Pandithage Chairman, Diesel & Motor Engineering PLC, functioning also as the CEO.
