Body of Sri Lankan, killed in Russian attack while serving in Ukraine military, recovered

Three Sri Lankans, who have been working as officers attached to the Ukrainian military, have lost their lives due to the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia.

The Sri Lankan Embassy in Ankara, Turkiye has confirmed that the three Sri Lankan officers had been killed in action in Bakhmut.

The Embassy further said that the three Sri Lankan officers had died while fighting against Russian forces on the Ukrainian front on Tuesday (05).

The three deceased officials include former Sri Lanka Army Captain Ranish Hewage, who is known mostly for his call sign ‘Dentist’.

The Sri Lankan Embassy in Ankara, Turkiye reported that the three Sri Lankan officers were killed in a Russian attack while they attempted to evacuate dead and wounded Ukrainian soldiers.
