A bodyguard of a former Minister, wanted in connection with stolen goods and financial fraud, has been arrested in Udaperadeniya, by the Crimes Intelligence Analysis and Prevention Division.
The suspect was evading Court hearings and warrants issued by magistrates in several areas including Thambuttegama, Puttalam, Ratnapura, Kuliyapitiya, and Bibile.
The suspect, originally from Kelaniya, had moved to Kandy and was involved in the vegetable trading business. The Police acted on the orders of the Acting IGP to apprehend individuals evading warrants and Court proceedings.
The suspect has been handed over to the Peradeniya Police for further investigation. He was presented to the Court and has been remanded until October 21.
