‘Beyond Reflections’, a collection of English poems, written by President of the Pasdunrata National College of Education (PNCOE), Kalutara, Major A. Jayalath Basnagoda, was launched at the Auditorium of PNCOE, recently.
The Chief Commissioner for National Colleges of Education, Kalani Hemamali was present as the chief guest, and the first student teacher in the first batch of trainees of PNCOE and the former Dean (retired) of the Vocational Technical College of Education S.A. Liyanage graced the occasion.
The first copy of ‘Beyond Reflections’ was presented to Kalani Hemamali, the chief guest, by its author Major Basnagoda. All other guests too received a copy each.
A video presentation was presented about Basnagoda’s other English books and translations and of his artistic, aesthetic, educational and creative life, which he spent amidst his busy work schedules while he worked as President of the PNCOE.
Addressing the vast crowd of PNCOE students, teachers and distinguished guests, chief guest Kalani Hemamali highly appreciated the yeoman service rendered by the President of PNCOE Jayalath Basnagoda who encouraged the student teachers to initiate ‘writing’ and requested the teacher-trainees to improve their English knowledge before they take up teaching appointments because now students are enthusiastic in seeking knowledge.
