Dr. Anuruddha Bandara and his team have been elected to lead the Boxing Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) for the 2026–2028 term following the association’s Annual General Meeting held on 29 May 2026.
According to BASL, all 21 voting clubs supported the incumbent administration at the election.
The election process was conducted in line with the provisions applicable to B-graded National Sport Associations under the relevant Government Gazette and under the supervision of an Election Committee appointed by the Ministry of Sports.
The Election Committee comprised:
• Mr. Piyasena Ranasinghe – Chairman (Retired High Court Judge and Attorney-at-Law)
• Mr. Sarathchandrasiri Vithana – Member (Retired Sri Lanka Administrative Service Super Grade Officer)
• Mrs. Varuni Rasadari – Member (Representative of the Ministry of Sports)
The elected office bearers for the 2026–2028 term are:
• President: Mr. Kuruppu Arachchige Anuruddha Shanaka Bandara (Dr. Anuruddha Bandara)
• Vice Presidents: Major General Janaka Sampath Bandara Wickramasinghe Pallekumbura and Commander Munnipurage Udayaweera Kumaranathunga
• Secretary: Commodore Muththattuwage Arjuna Lanka Perera
• Assistant Secretary: Major General Adikariwattage Kasun Dharshana Adikari
• Assistant Treasurer: Mr. Saminda Ranasinghe
According to the Election Committee, the nomination submitted for the position of Treasurer was rejected after being deemed ineligible.
The Committee further noted that no nominations were initially received for eight Executive Committee positions. Registered clubs have been informed that the remaining positions are to be filled through an election process at the Annual General Meeting in accordance with the applicable sports regulations.
BASL stated that the election process commenced on 17 April 2026 during a Special General Meeting and was carried out in accordance with the procedures outlined by the Ministry of Sports.
