At the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Mercantile Services Basketball Association (MSBA) for 2023-2024, Brawin Fernando of Rosewall Interiors (Pvt) Ltd secured the position of President. Airtel Sri Lanka’s Mafaz Mohideen was re-elected as the General Secretary.
The AGM, held at Jetwing Colombo Seven, saw an active participation of over 50 members. Jonathan Arumugam from Nations Trust Bank (NTB) was elected as the Treasurer, and Rimaz Hassan from Dialog Axiata was elected as the Senior Vice President.
The three newly elected Vice Presidents are Melvin Pollocks (Commercial Credit and Finance), Nuwan Indika (MAS Holdings), and Gayath Jayasinghe (GAJA TV). Dilka Sirimana from Fcode Labs took on the role of Assistant Secretary General, while Vishal Fernando from NDB Bank was elected as the Assistant Treasurer.
Jayaliya Kumari from Seylan Bank will head the Women’s Committee, with five Executive Committee Members: Umanga de Zoysa (Hatton National Bank), Chaminda Dissanayake (Seylan Bank), Ishan Melanka (NTB), Maduranga Munasinghe (Sampath Bank), and Susantha Weerasuriya (Softlogic Holdings). Additionally, Nishantha Wickramage was appointed as the Patron, and Roshan Samidon and Basil Silva were appointed as Vice Patrons.
The newly elected officials are set to lead the MSBA for the upcoming year, focusing on the promotion and development of basketball in the Mercantile sector.
