Bribery case against Fowzie fixed for further pre-trial conference

The bribery case filed against former Minister A.H.M. Fowzie was on Tuesday fixed for further pre-trial conference on February 5, 2024, by the Colombo High Court.

The case was taken up before Colombo High Court Judge Navaratne Marasinghe.

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruptions (CIABOC) had filed an indictment against the accused for the offence of corruption under the Bribery Act, alleging that former Minister Fowzie used a vehicle provided by the Dutch government to the Disaster Management Centre for personal use, causing a loss of Rs.1.07 million to the Government.

On a previous occasion, the indictment was served to the former Minister and he was ordered to be released on a cash bail of Rs. 25,000 with two sureties of Rs. 500,000, by the Colombo High Court.
