President Anura Kumara Dissanayake yesterday called on the Most Ven.Warakagoda Sri Gnanarathana Thera, Chief Prelate of the Asgiriya Chapter and received his blessings.
The Maha Sangha from the Karaka Sangha Sabha of the Asgiriya Chapter too were present on the occasion.
Anunayaka of the Asgiriya Chapter Ven. Anamaduwe Dhammadassi Thera delivering an ‘Anusasana’ said that, even though he faced various obstacles and hardships, Anura Kumara Dissanayake never gave up on his journey to achieve his goal.
The Thera further said, “You said that you will take that journey with courage until the name of Sri Lanka is taken to the world stage. It is also consistent with the Buddha’s words.
You became the President by fulfilling the wishes of the vast majority of people. You were born in an Anuradhapura village and received a good education. You became the President of this country with the consent of the majority of the people. You are a person who understands our traditions and heritage.
On assuming the office of the President, you said that you will serve all those who have declared their vote and those who have not voted equally, and work to build the confidence of those who did not vote. That is a good statement. You are the President of the country. Perform the assigned tasks well at this time. Build a country that is good not only for Buddhists, but also for all races and religions”.
