Bundi fertilizer to be given free to farmers

Agriculture Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said that the Agriculture Department has decided to provide the entire amount of Bundi (MOP) fertilizer required by the farmers free in the coming Maha Season. Also, the Minister says that arrangements have been made to reduce the price of one more type of fertilizer, and the Government has credited the money required for the purchase of fertilizers to the farmers’ bank accounts.

From July 15, the Government reduced the price of a 50 kg bundle of MOP by Rs. 1,000, and the price of MOP fell to Rs. 14,000. Also, the Government reduced the price of MOP fertilizer, which was over Rs. 22,000 to Rs. 15,000.

The Minister also said that chemical fertilizers or organic fertilizers can be purchased from the public sector or the private sector with the fertilizer subsidy provided by the Government.

Also, the Minister requests the farmers to give priority to buying Bundi fertilizers while buying chemical fertilizers.
