Beruwala Police said that six passengers, including the driver of a luxury private bus, were injured and admitted to the Kaluthara Teaching Hospital, when it was involved in a head-on collision with a Colombo-bound SLTB bus coming from Kataragama. The private bus traveling from Colombo to Galle on the Galle-Colombo main road in the Polkotuwa area.
Beruwala Police investigations confirmed that the accident occurred when the SLTB bus attempted to overtake a motorcycle. According to Beruwala Police, the driver of the SLTB bus immediately fled the scene of the accident, but later surrendered to police yesterday (4) morning.
Police said that the driver of the private bus and another passenger were seriously injured, while the other four passengers were not serious.
