A passenger leaving the airport carrying five and a half gold biscuits worth around Rs.13 Mn was arrested at the BIA yesterday (21) morning. He is a 52-year-old businessman residing in Galle.
He had arrived at the Katunayake Airport yesterday (21) at 5.30 am from Dubai on a SriLankan Airlines flight.
He was going out of the airport after completing procedures when Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB) officers found these 616 grams of gold biscuits in his luggage and arrested him.
Later, this passenger and all the gold biscuits he had illegally brought in were handed over to the Katunayake airport Customs officials.
