The Consumer Affairs Authority has levied Rs.240 million as fines from the raids conducted between January and November 20 this year. Consumer Affairs Authority Chairman Shantha Niriella said that 22,000 raids had been conducted all over the country from January to November 2023.
Among them, 3,151 raids were related to rice and 510 raids were related to sugar. The Authority informs the public to direct the information and complaints to the Authority’s telephone hotline 1977. Rs.241,849,949 has been imposed as fines after prosecuting 20,256 cases.The Consumer Affairs Authority has intensified raids and investigations to cover all districts for the safety of the consumers during this festive season.
