The Cabinet has approved the award of a Rs. 2.89 billion contract to Maga Engineering (Private) Limited for the third phase of the Baseline Road Extension Project.
Under the project, a 0.86-kilometre section from Kirulapone Junction to Dutugemunu Street on the Colombo–Horana Road will be upgraded into a six-lane road.
The development will also include an underpass, signal-controlled intersections, pedestrian facilities and improvements to the drainage system.
Bids for the project were invited under the National Competitive Bidding procedure, with a total of seven bids received and evaluated.
Following the evaluation, the High-Level Procurement Committee recommended awarding the contract to Maga Engineering, which had submitted the lowest substantially responsive bid.
The contract, valued at Rs. 2.89 billion excluding Value Added Tax (VAT), was approved following a proposal presented by the Minister of Transport, Highways and Urban Development. (Newswire)
