National People’s Power (NPP) leader and Presidential candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated that even under a NPP Government there was no possibility of immediately withdrawing from the IMF agreement. He said however a future NPP Government will look into the possibility of amending certain clauses.
He was responding to questions from journalists after paying homage to several sacred religious sites including the Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura.
Dissanayake said the Government was trying to show that the country’s economic woes had ended after the incumbent President assumed office.
He stressed that a future NPP government will significantly ease the economic burden of the people and improve their living standards.
