Cash & gold recovered by Army from landslide rubble returned to owner

Sri Lanka Army personnel engaged in disaster relief operations in the Hanguranketha area have recovered cash and gold jewellery from the debris of a house destroyed by a landslide and returned them to the rightful owner.

The Army said troops attached to the Hanguranketha Divisional Secretariat found Rs. 300,000 in cash and gold jewellery valued at around Rs. 5 million while continuing search operations amid the rubble. The recovered items were safely and formally handed over to the owner on December 14. (Newswire)
