CDB broke five meet records and amassed a total of 24 medals at the 38th Mercantile Annual Athletics Championships held at the Sugathadasa International Outdoor Sports Complex recently. They also won the Overall Champion Men’s Category with 33 points. Best Athlete Awards were won by three members of Team CDB.
Setting a new meet record was Janidu Lakvijaya who was adjudged Best Athlete (Men) for his 110m hurdles, Gayan Kumara who set two new meet records in the Over 30 Men for the 100m and 200m sprints and Ashmika Korala in the Novices Men breaking a record in the Triple Jump.
The CDB relay team also set a new meet record for the 100×4 relay. CDB collated 12 gold, 3 silver and 9 bronze medals.
