Siddhartha Multi Sport Court at Siddhartha MMV Wellampitiya declared open and handed over to students of the College with a simple ceremony recently.
The College Multi Sport Court provide facilities for Netball, Badminton, Volleyball and Basketball and this is a long felt need of Siddhartha MMV, said Chance Sports Chairman Lasantha Amarasinghe who handed over sports Equipments.
“Schools like Siddhartha MMV despite situated close to Colombo has many difficulties to continue their sports properly and I am very keen to support this type of schools. Education Ministry and Sports Ministry have to look after all schools in Sri Lanka but at this hard period they also have some difficulties. I knew most of the school Principals and their Old boys and Old Girls Associations and Parents and Teachers Associations are begging for sponsors. Even some players have to find sponsorships for their tours. As a former sportsman at Isipatana and CCC, I know what type of difficulties players and schools faced, added Amarasinghe.
Today we are very happy to see few players from Siddhartha MMV Wellampitiya represent National Netball team and with this type of multi sports court at their own we can expect more National level players from Siddhartha MMV. The Principal, teachers, parents and Past Pupils Association took great effort to develop this Multi Sport Court and this is a good example to other schools, said Amarasinghe.
