Chandeep Nedusara – karateka par excellence from Nattandiya

Fourteen year old Karate Black Belt Holder, Gold Medalist at the All Island National Championship under 14 age group in 2021 in Kata event Herath Pathiranhalage Chandeep Nedusara has brought much credit and glory to his alma mater Dhammissara National School Nattandiya with his deeds in the field of Karate.

Chandeep who hails from Mailawa, Nattandiya was born on 14th January 2008 and admitted to Dhammissara National School in 2014 when R.K.W.Gunasekera was at the helm of the school and his first class Master was Mr.Randy. When he showed an interest in Karate his Parents Ruwan Priyadarshana and Nadeeka Nilushi handed over their son to the school Karate Coach M.Peter when he was in grade two and his Prefect of Games was Keerthi Jayasekera. Same year after a strenuous training his first meet was All Island National Schools Karate Championship and he won a Bronze in the under eight age group for Kata.

Then in 2016 he took part for the School Inter House Sports Meet and came third in 50 and 75 meters and participated for the Divisional Meet and he came fourth in both events and after that he did not continue. His next Karate meet was Puttalam District in the under nine age group and he grabbed a Bronze in Kata and at the North Western Province meet he has to be satisfied with a Bronze for Kata and in the following year too he got Bronzes for District and NWP Championships in Kata and in the next year in the under ten age group he bounced back with Golds for Kata and Kumite at the District and the NWP Meets and at the All Island Meet he came up to Best Eight and received a Certificate for Kata and at the Open National Invitation Karate Championship he won a Silver for Kumiteand to enhance his Karate Skills he joined the Shuhari Jayan Karate – S- Association and his Coach is Sugath Kumara.

Then in 2019 at the District Meet he won a Silver for Kumite and a Bronze for Kata and at the NWP Meet he won a Gold for Kumite and a Bronze for Kata and with these performances he was selected to participate for the National Meet but due to Corona it was postponed. As an under 13 competitor he participated for the Karate National Online Championship Team Event and won a Bronze and his partners were Tushan and Sethum.

His final competition was All Island National Meet held in 2021 at Bandaragama and participating for the meet as and under 13 in the under 14 age group he won a Gold Medal.

During a span of five years he has won 13 Medals in the Karate major tournaments which includes Five Golds, Two Silvers and Six Bronzes.
