Education Minister Dr. Susil Premajayantha said that 100 percent free uniforms from China will save the country Rs.7,000 million for 2025.
The minister said that the Chinese government has confirmed that the first batch will be received on November 13 this year, the second batch on 21, and the third batch on December 20.
According to the result of a discussion held by Education Minister Dr.Susil Premajayantha with the Chinese ambassador and the relevant officials of the Chinese government, the government is going to pack all the required uniforms for 4.3 million schoolchildren and all the robes required for 825 pirivena for the new school term of 2025 and hand over as a grant.
This stock of uniforms is planned to be distributed before the start of the new school term of 2025 on January 20.
The Minister also expressed his gratitude to the Chinese government and the Chinese ambassador for giving this grant.
