The Kollupitiya Police said that a Chinese national was arrested yesterday (24) with a consignment of cigarettes smuggled into Sri Lanka.
Police said that this Chinese national, who was travelling in a car, was arrested with 6,400 cigarettes in his possession.
According to the Police, the raid was carried out based on a tip-off received that this 32-year-old Chinese national was involved in the distribution of cigarettes illegally imported into Sri Lanka.
