STF personnel attached to the Gonahena camp yesterday arrested a suspect in connection with the shooting incident at a house belonging to a pork vendor in Kandana who was subjected to an extortion attempt to the tune of Rs. 5 million by a Sri Lankan gangster living in Dubai. An STF officer said that the 26-year-old suspect was arrested during a raid at Fathima Mawatha in the Kandana Police division and two grams and 350 milligrams of the narcotic ‘ice’ and a mobile phone were found in his possession. The Police Special Task Force also stated that this suspect is a close friend of Rasika Chamod alias ‘Chuti Malli’, an underworld criminal and drug dealer based in Dubai.
The suspect was handed over to the Kandana Police for further investigation.
