CID to get CCTV footage at ‘Miracle Dome’

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) informed Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage that they have requested the CCTV footage installed at the ‘Miracle Dome’ in Katunayake in connection with the investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department against Pastor Jerome Fernando.

The CID filing a further report informed this to the Court when the case regarding Pastor Jerome Fernando, who is accused of making statements inciting religious tensions was taken up in open Court.

The Criminal Investigation Department also informed Court that the statements of two of its employees were recorded regarding the footage from June 18 to 25 related to CCTV cameras installed at ‘Miracle Dome’ located at Minuwangoda Road in Katunayake.

Investigations carried out by the Criminal Investigation Department have revealed that 5,000 can be accommodated at the Miracle Dome constructed at a cost of Rs.6,100 million.

The further report submitted to the Court stated that Rs.12,260 million have been received in the personal accounts of Pastor Jerome, the accounts of his private business, the accounts of the church where his prayers are performed and the accounts in 12 Government and private banks belonging to his wife.

The Criminal Investigation Department has also informed Court that investigations are being conducted under the Money Laundering Act regarding the manner in which this money was received and it has been mentioned in the report that 10 lectures were held at the Miracle Dome Institute from last March to May and two unedited CDs were taken into custody.
