CID to probe into use of Schaffter’s GPS facility

Company official yet to be questioned

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) conducting investigations into the murder of businessman Dinesh Schaffter, will analyze the details of his mobile phone on the permission of the court to identify the murder suspects, police sources said.

Investigators expect to reveal if the victim’s wife and the manager of his company who found Schaffter tied to the car seat inside the Borella cemetery have used the GPS facility to locate Schaffter on previous occasions as well.

This is due to the fact that the wife of Dinesh Schaffter had used this facility to locate the victim just half an hour after his departure from home on the day of the crime.

The mobile phone of Dinesh Schaffter is currently in the custody of the CID.

According to the police sources, the CID and the Borella Police have questioned the wife of Dinesh Schaffter several times on this murder. The Borella Police have recorded a statement from the said manager over this incident but he has not been questioned by the CID nor the police yet. The investigators have also focused their attention on the restaurant from where Schaffter had bought some short-eats before leaving for the Borella Cemetery on that day.

Police Media Spokesman Attorney SSP Nihal Thalduwa said that the investigations being carried out by the CID and the police had achieved progress. A total of 50 individuals had been questioned on this murder by yesterday and the investigations are carried out by police round the clock, he said.
