CMA Sri Lanka organise CPD seminar on ‘Budget Highlights 2024’

The Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMA) is organizing a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Seminar on CMA Sri Lanka Budget Highlights 2024.

Analysis of Tax Proposals and Impact on Business, Economy and Society on November 15, from 1.00-5.15 pm at the Taj Samudra, Colombo.

The CMA Budget Highlights Seminar will bring together experts and thought leaders to provide a comprehensive analysis of the budget proposals for the year 2024 and their potential implication on the Sri Lankan economy, businesses and society, especially in times of crisis.

The welcome address and introduction will be delivered by the Founder President of CMA Sri Lanka, Prof. Lakshman R. Watawala. The keynote address on Budget 2024 will be delivered by Mahinda Siriwardena Secretary Ministry of Finance. The special address on Tax Proposals 2024 will be delivered by D. Upul Jayawardhana Acting Commissioner General Department of Inland Revenue.

The seminar will feature presentations on key topics, including – ‘Budget 2023 Accountability and Transparency’ by Sureni Weerathunge Senior Research Analyst Vertite Research. ‘Tax Proposals 2024’ by Nisthar Sulaiman Tax Partner Ernst & Young Chartered Accountants. ‘Budget Proposals 2024 and Impact on Business’ by Duminda Hulangamuwa President Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and Senior Partner Ernst & Young Chartered Accountants. ‘The Economic Transformation and SOE Reforms’ by Dananath Fernando CEO Advocata Institute. ‘Economic Implications and Meeting IMF Obligations’ by Talal Rafi Economist and Expert Member of the World Economic Forum. ‘Earning much needed foreign exchange by boosting Exports’ by Hasitha Premaratne Managing Director Brandix.

The presentations will be followed by a panel discussion and it will be moderated by Ruchira Perera Council Member CMA Sri Lanka and Treasurer OPA. The eminent panelists are Dr Kulatunga Rajapakse Emeritus Managing Director DSI Group and Priantha Fernando Chairman Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority.

The seminar will conclude with experts comments delivered by Hennayake Bandara Vice President CMA Sri Lanka and Past President SAFA and Vote of Thanks will delivered by P. Gajendra Chairman Taxation Committee and Council Member CMA.
