Co-op Insurance Director under probe over murder attempt

The Illegal Assets Investigation Division of the Police has started an investigation regarding the director of the insurance company, who was arrested for trying to murder Co-operative Insurance Company chairman Dharshana Lalith Samarawickerama.

A high-ranking police officer mentioned that during the investigation regarding the director’s assets, information has also been revealed about him giving a car to a police officer in the children’s and women’s bureau in the south.

The officer further stated that a comprehensive investigation is currently being conducted regarding the assets of this suspected director and the matter will be reported to the court in the future. Co-operative Insurance Company Chairman Samarawickrama, was shot at on June 5 in Padukka by two persons on a motorcycle.
