The Coconut Development Authority has planned to hand over Rs.125 million from the income earned in this year to the Treasury.
The relevant check was symbolically handed over to Agriculture and Plantation Industries Minister Mahinda Amaraweera by Coconut Development Authority Chairman Prof. Roshan Perera yesterday (29) at the Plantation Industries Ministry.
Minister Amaraweera said that steps will be taken to hand over this amount of Rs. 125 million to President Ranil Wickremesinghe in the coming week.
He also said that many institutions under the Plantation Industries Ministry are at the level of making profits, so he would like to thank all those staff for making arrangements to give a part of the income to the Treasury.
Former Hambantota District Secretary and former Lands and Parliamentary Affairs Ministry Secretary W. H. Karunaratne also attended.
