Complaint lodged with Kandy Special Crimes Bureau over use of fake seal

Admission of students to St. Anthony Girls’ School, Katugastota:

Hemantha Udayakumara Prematilake (Educational Quality Development and Education Reforms), Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Education has lodged a complaint with the Kandy Police Special Crimes Investigation Bureau, on Thursday requesting that action to be taken against those who misused their name and position and prepared fake documents to admit students to the intermediate classes of St. Anthony Girls’ School, Katugastota.

It is stated in the complaint made by Premathilaka that 18 female students had been admitted to St. Anthony’s Girls’ School between 2018-2020 by using a fake official seal and a false signature through misusing their name and position. During investigations carried out by auditing sectors it had been revealed that these students had been admitted to Grades 02, 03, 04,07, 08 and 09. According to a notice given by the Central Provincial Ministry of Education to file a complaint regarding the false documents due to the fact that the relevant letters had been sent directly to the principal, the principal has also previously filed a complaint with the Kandy Special Crime Investigation Division and investigations have already commenced in this regard.
