The number of Presidential election related complaints received by the Election Commission from the date that the 2024 Presidential Election was announced has further increased.
The Election Commission states that there have been 29 election complaints received within 24 hours as at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday (14) in comparison to the 42 received on Tuesday (13).
All 29 complaints received were related to violation of election laws.
The total number of election complaints received from 31 July to 14 August by the Election Commission has increased to 437.
So far only one complaint has been received on election violence from July 31 to August 14. A total of 421 complaints have been received until August 14 on violation of election laws with 15 more other complaints received bringing the total number of election related complaints received from July 31 to August 14 up to 437, Chairman of the Election Commission, R. M. A. L. Rathnayake said.
Meanwhile, the Presidential Election monitoring organisation stated that the number of reported election violence during the period from announcement of the date of the Presidential Election to the submission of nominations is at a low level.
