The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) emphasized that despite the sudden breakdown of the High Pressure Heater System of the second generator of the Lakvijaya Power Plant in Norochcholai will not hinder the continuous supply of electricity.
Due to the Emergency Breakdown of Unit two Generator High Pressure Heater System of Norochcholai Lakwijaya Thermal Power Plant, the generator had to be switched off from the night of 17th and the staff of the power plant has already started the necessary preliminary work to restore it. A major overhaul of the third generator of this plant has been completed and it is currently undergoing a test-run.
The Ceylon Electricity Board states that these third generators will be able to be used for electricity production very soon. It is further mentioned that the CEB will continue to provide electricity by producing hydroelectric power to the maximum extent during this maintenance period.
